Massachusetts and Mount Holyoke College

August 31, 2017 by Chelsea Weisel

This image represents a dream come true. This is our little house on wheels passing through the gates of my alma mater, Mount Holyoke College!

When we were planning our route, we planned to visit western Massachusetts for three weeks to visit friends in the area and return to Mount Holyoke campus. I loved my college years--the friends I made, the classes that I took, and even the late nights studying (made better by mount Holyoke's famous milk and cookies served at 9:30 every night).

The Mount Holyoke campus was also where Steven and I fell in love. He drove the 8 hours from Maryland in the fall of our freshmen year to meet me, and then returned over the years even if we were only together for less than 24 hours. To this day, when the weather hits 62 degrees, Steven will declare, "It feels like Mount Holyoke College in the fall!" This campus evokes some of our favorite moments together, so it was very special to return with our own home in tow.

I forgot just how much I love the Pioneer Valley. The landscape, the architecture, the people, and the food felt like returning home.

We stayed at the Springfield/Northampton KOA which was tucked into the beautiful fields west of Northampton. And right up the road was a wonderful market with local produce, meat, and cheese, and even freshly made apple cider doughnuts. (Don't ask how we know this!)

We took the chance to pop into Boston while we were in the area and enjoyed walking around the fine city and even caught a Red Socks game! Next up Maine!
